Growth of current in LR circuit Consider a circuit containing an inductance L in series with a resistance R and a battery of E.M.F when the circuit is closed by connecting s and p the current in the circuit starts to rise if the inductor is not present the current will rise rapidly to a maximum steady value I0 equal to E/R but due to the presence of inductance according to Faraday Law and an induced E.M.F appears in the circuit which opposes the rise of current hence the current does not rise or growth to its final study value E/R . During the growth if I is the current at any instant t then the induced E.M.F will be mine is ldap on duty hence the inductive EMF in the circuit at instant tea will be( - Ldi/dt ).Hence the effective e.m.f. in the circuit at Instant t will be (E-Ldi/dt),and according to Ohm's law it should be equal to Ri at that instant. Thus, E-Ldi/dt=IR
